In the wedding world, Mykonos holds its own reputation as one of the most desirable destination wedding locations in Greece—an island with unlimited potential. While often associated with its world-renowned party scene and grand celebrations, Mykonos offers so much more to couples seeking something different for their special day.

THE OTHER SIDE OF MYKONOS
Beyond the vibrant nightlife lies a more intimate, romantic side of Mykonos island—one that remains unnoticed by many yet is ready to step into the spotlight.

This year, Dream Weddings Mykonos, our luxury wedding planning agency based in Mykonos, envisioned a style shoot aiming to show that Mykonos island is more than a party destination—it’s a place filled with character, natural beauty, and timeless style. It’s an ideal setting for micro weddings and elopements that capture the romantic allure often associated with other known wedding destinations, like Santorini.

DISCOVER THE POTENTIAL
Our goal was clear: to reintroduce Mykonos as an equally intimate wedding destination, highlighting new and inspiring Mykonos wedding venues ideal for celebrations of 15–80 guests—an increasingly popular choice among modern couples.

Partnering with the Mykonos Riviera Hotel, a hidden gem often overlooked by couples scouting venues, we created images that reflect our vision of a luxurious yet intimate modern wedding in Mykonos.

BRINGING THE VISION TO LIFE
Exuding the unmatched Mykonian vibe, this shoot blends classic fairytale beauty with fresh, contemporary elements that capture the essence of a Greek island wedding.

The original source of inspiration was in fact a 2000s Mario Testino campaign featuring Kate Moss in a triangle bikini and veil - a concept envisioned by photographer Thanasis Kaiafas. This project was artfully captured through his lens alongside the talented filmmaker Panagiotis Kastanidis. The shoot featured both a pre-wedding and wedding ceremony/dinner setup within the enchanting spaces of Mykonos Riviera, all beautifully decorated with Studio 7 flowers.

Switching between two remarkable bridal dresses by Antonea and guided by the concept of light, this creative process produced breathtaking imagery: from the Mediterranean sun casting its golden glow, to candlelit tables and glittering chandeliers illuminating the night.

THE PRE WEDDING DINNER
We envisioned a pre-wedding welcome dinner in Mykonos that would feel like the perfect introduction to an intimate Greek island celebration—authentic, modern and truly local without being forced or overly styled. Hosted at one of the restaurants of Mykonos Riviera Hotel, the setting reflected the hotel’s distinctive blue, white, and grey palette while overlooking the Mykonos port – a perfect combination to exude the unmistakable marine feeling of the Cyclades.
The tables were set with blue souplats and glassware, paired with fresh olive branches—Greece’s most iconic plant—and surrounded by elegant olive trees that adorn the restaurant. Touches of vibrant oranges added a playful, Mediterranean pop of color, while each plate was adorned with a handpicked ceramic tile as a unique keepsake for every guest. To complete the experience, guests were treated to traditional Mykonian amygdalota, the island’s signature almond sweets—a symbolic gesture of Greek hospitality and a sweet welcome to the majestic island of Mykonos, overlooking the sparkling Aegean Sea.

THE MYKONOS WEDDING CEREMONY
Our Mykonos wedding ceremony took place at the Galaxy Pool of Mykonos Riviera Hotel, a private area transformed into a fairytale setting overlooking an endless sea view that truly captivates.
Inspired by the freshness of spring, the design embraced soft, colorful accents to create an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere, perfectly suited for a luxury destination wedding in Mykonos.
Lush ground flower arrangements in seasonal hues surrounded the altar, while clear chairs added an airy, contemporary touch that complemented the breathtaking sea view. The bride’s gown used for this concept was an absolute perfect much to the set up - featuring delicate colorful floral details over the white palette of the gown’s fabric—resulting in a scene that felt elegant, timeless, and effortlessly dreamy.

THE WEDDING DINNER RECEPTION
This wedding dinner in Mykonos was designed as the perfect continuation of the dreamy ceremony—a romantic, intimate gathering under the stars. Surrounded by the same colorful floral arrangements, a white-themed table with golden details took center stage, created under the concept of light. Dozens of candles lined the table from end to end, their warm glow reflected in the shimmering chandeliers above, creating an image of a truly luxurious and elegant Mykonos celebration.

This romantic Mykonos wedding dinner brought together all the elements that we love seeing in wedding celebrations: glowing candlelight, touches of gold, vibrant flowers, personalized print-outs, a champagne tower, and a stylish couple unafraid to have fun into the night. The bride’s reception gown by Antonea—romantic yet modern with unexpected details—perfectly completed the concept. Blending classic luxury wedding style with a fresh, modern elements, the scene captured exactly what makes Mykonos weddings so unique and unforgettable.

A STEP FORWARD – NEXT DAY PHOTOSHOOT
Taking the vision further, the concept evolved into a full-fledged Mykonos love story with a next day photoshooting across the island—using boats, Mykonos alleys, beachside venues like Nammos, the windmills, and other iconic Mykonos spots. Each scene captures the island’s timeless charm and modern elegance—a perfect balance of tradition and adventure and a true reflection of what makes Mykonos a dream destination for weddings.

CHANGING THE PICTURE
This project offers a fresh perspective on destination weddings in Mykonos created in collaboration with mostly local vendors who share our passion for authenticity and creativity.
It represents Mykonos’ free spirit and its potential for intimate elopements and micro weddings. For us, this also marks the beginning of a series of styled shoots that will reveal new and lesser-known Mykonos wedding venues—reviving the charm that defined the island long before its party reputation.

This is the side of Mykonos that speaks to couples who seek intimate luxury gatherings, set against the breathtaking Aegean Sea backdrop—a side that only those who have truly experienced it can understand.
